Rogaine® is a FDA approved topical medication used to treat hair loss in both men and women. It has the ability to regrow hair and slow down hair loss caused by Male Pattern Baldness and Thinning Hair. Minoxidil, the generic name for Rogaine® is available without a prescription in topical formulations at most drug stores. The Foam formulation of Minoxidil is the most popular. It does not leave a residue following its use, a common complaint about other Minoxidil formulations.
Does Rogaine® Regrow Your Hair ?
If your hair loss is in the early stages it may help you. If you have already lost your hair you will need to try another hair loss treatment. Minoxidil may prevent your hair follicles from being attacked by the hormone DHT. Minoxidil comes in 2 different strengths, one for men and one for women.
You can find Rogaine®/Minoxidil in may over the counter hair loss treatments. Unfortunately these hair loss solutions are over priced compared to the real solution you find at supermarkets. You can buy generic Rogiane® for less, look for the ingredient Minoxidil. If a hair loss product says that it is FDA approved it most likely contains Minoxidil.
Rogaine® Compared to PRP for Thinning Hair
Both of these Non-Surgical Hair Loss Treatments can be very effective for Thinning Hair vs moderate to significant Baldness. Some Hair Loss patients will not use Minoxidil because it is a drug and there could be potential side effects. PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a natural Hair Loss Treatment alternative. PRP uses your own Platelets which are separated and isolated from a small amount of your own blood. Both of these treatments will not be effective if you are Bald. There needs to be existing hair for these treatments to be effective. Neither treatment can be guaranteed to work on every patient. Some men and women will respond very well, while others will notice no improvement.
